Bluetooth headsets are all the rage for the current generation of cell phone users. Whether a person is riding down the street talking on a Bluetooth phone or walking in the mall chatting it up on a Bluetooth headset, Bluetooth technology has gone mainstream in a major way. The reason for the shift to Bluetooth headsets is because the technology offers ease of use in a sleek, reasonably inexpensive product. Bluetooth compatible devices include, cell phone's, PDA's and wireless headsets.

Bluetooth devices work whereby two devices communicate with each other over low frequency radio waves. What's the catch? Both devices must be Bluetooth compatible. This necessity for compatibility holds true no matter what two devices are used be they PC's and keyboards or most cases Bluetooth phones and Bluetooth headsets.

Bluetooth technology is continuously improving; however some limitations remain. The range of one Bluetooth device to another is 30 feet. For this reason people keep their Bluetooth headsets in close proximity to their Bluetooth phones. One can connect several Bluetooth compatible devices together, but it is not possible to create a network of computers using Bluetooth technology because of range limits. Until Bluetooth technology can compete with Wi-Fi computer networking capacity, Bluetooth technology will stay limited to headsets and cell phones.

With the ever increasing number of Bluetooth compatible headsets and devices added to the market, Bluetooth technology is continuously evolving. One quick sidebar for trivia nuts is where the term "Bluetooth" came from. "Bluetooth" was taken from Harold Bluetooth, who was the king of Denmark more than 1000 years ago.
